RAF Type H Oxygen Mask, WW2 Dated

SOLD

Code: SOLD-1441

Size Medium. Dated 2-45. (Feb. 1945). Rare wartime dated example of this mask. The rubber facepiece is in fair to reasonable condition only. The rubber retains quite good flexibility but is soiled and somewhat mishapen. There is suprisingly little damage overall but there is surface cracking/crazing where the lower part of the mask has been folded inwards during long term storage. Unusually there is virtually no significant cracking on the harness retaining lugs. The pearl grey suede lining has become unglued slightly and is rather grubby. Fitted with a type 57 microphone assembly and a light tan coloured loom. The harness is complete but faded and with some loss of elasticity. Amazingly it still retains the original rubber bands. Metal componants have some verdigris deposits. These late war H-masks are very difficult to obtain now in any condition and are considerably rarer than a G-type mask. Although this is only in fair condition due to poor storage it can be packed to improve the shape and cleaned up. It displays well. A bargain price for a wartime example! Stock code O18716.
