Lloyd Loom Armchair Ex R.A.F. West Malling

SOLD

Code: SOLD-1178

Classic Lloyd Loom armchair as used on many wartime R.A.F. bases and often favoured by resting pilots due to their extremely comfortable design. Different variations of the Lloyd Loom are often seen in photographs of Battle of Britain pilots inside and outside their dispersal huts. This chair is in reasonable condition with a robust wooden frame complete with brass ferruled feet. Most of the woven fibre (actually twisted paper) is good but there is damage to the left side of the seat area. The chair can be used with care but is perhaps better suited to display unless repaired. Most Lloyd Looms of this vintage have had several coats of paint applied over the years but amazingly this still has its original green paint finish. The chair is stamped @APOS@Lloyd Loom@APOS@ and clearly dated @APOS@AUG 38@APOS@ underneath. It is purported to have come from RAF West Malling in Kent when it was cleared in the 1980s. The same source came out with Operations Room @APOS@counters@APOS@ at the time. Great for your collection room. Does not include the props used in the photographs. The price is for the chair alone which is offered for collection only. Stock code M18841.
