Stores ref. 6A/1248. Hand bearing compass for use in taking bearings in circumstances where the fixed type of observer@APOS@s compass cannot conveniently be used. Approximately 10cm diameter compass fixed to a handle that contained dry batteries to illuminate the scale when the compass was used in the dark. Reflecting prism mounted on a bracket attached directly to the verge ring. Good condition throughout and still retains some of the alcohol & distilled water damping fluid. With painted wooden transit case having a 1945 date stamp inside the lid. Some woodworm in the case. Stock code M18498.
