R.A.F. Station Wall Clock

SOLD

Code: SOLD-963

Station wall clock with wooden backbox and much rarer bakelite suround. The overall diameter is approximately 37cms. 30cm white dial with Roman numerals & King's Crown RAF crest. Self-starting 8-day movement with advance and retard lever protruding through a slot in the dial. The case is in good condition although the backbox has had the rear screws replaced as has the dial. The bakelite surround is undamaged and appears to be very good. Unfortunately the dial has suffered and has staining, surface cracking, minor surface corrosion and some very old restoration. This is evident in repainted/raised patches, examples of which can be see between the numbers 9 & 10, close to the 11, between 11&12 and beneath the 12. Retains the original hands & spun brass bezel in good order. The clock is in working condition and keeps good time. It is unusual in being slightly smaller than most RAF dial clocks that have a 35cm dial. Not the greatest example due to the damage/wear to the dial but I would always rather have a damaged original dial than a totally restored example. Excellent display piece. We would prefer this item to be collected but are happy to post it worldwide entirely at the buyer's risk. Stock code C16316.
