R.A.F. MK.II Flying Goggles

SOLD

Code: SOLD-828

Goggles, Flying Lightweight. Stores Ref. 22c/44. More commonly known as the MK.II. Technically an interwar pattern but still in use well into the early years of WW2 and popular with many Battle of Britain pilots. This pair is almost certainly from an early pre-production run and are made with chromed frames rather than the usual grey painted or blackened white metal frames. These are backed with the usual knitted brown silk having a brown velvet edge trim. Clear lenses. Distinctive leather strap having two sections with leather covered springs inside. The frame is in excellent condition as are the Triplex (xxx mkd.) lenses. The knitted silk backing/trim is very good The main section of the strap is very good and although there is some damage to the leather covering & one spring the rest appear to be good and undamaged. Overall, a good @APOS@+@APOS@ used pair of these rare goggles. Not to be confused with the many variants of MT drivers@APOS@ goggles on the market. Stock code G16344.
