Air Ministry Wristwatch

SOLD

Code: SOLD-348

Stores Ref. 14A/1102. In 1940 the Air Ministry began to issue @APOS@economy@APOS@ (brand-less) watches to be used where the usual Longines/Omegas could not be justified. Built to the same specification with a Dennison case, 15 jewel Swiss movements, cream dial and sweep seconds hand. Engraved to the rear with A.M markings and reference codes. The official description for this reference code is a watch for @APOS@reconnaissance duties@APOS@. These are now quite rare as supplies of brand-named watches continued albeit in alloy economy cases. This example is in very good used condition. The dial has minor marking and the crystal has light scratching. A new black leather strap has been fitted. Appears to be keeping good time. Considerably cheaper than buying the same watch by a known Swiss maker! Stock code C16100.
