RAF D-type Oxygen Mask

SOLD

Code: SOLD-196

The cloth is generally in reasonable condition and is clean. As with most D-masks this example is peppered with moth damage. There have been patches applied into the worst areas - one in the lower panel, one under the nose and one in the upper right panel. In addition the right side of the the mask has, in my opinion possibly been restitched to the microphone mounting ring resulting in a somewhat lop-sided look to it when viewed from the side. This was possibly done due to moth damage in this area but this is a guess. The lining has some light soiling/staining near the nose but is very clean and very good overall. The mask has been fitted with a very good pair of @APOS@face protector@APOS@ press stud strips. The microphone mounting ring is in excellent order without significant paint loss and is fully stamped with reference numbers. Not fitted with a microphone or wiring but these can be supplied at extra cost if required. The overall shape of the mask is reasonable and ideal for display. Certainly not the greatest example but not too tatty either. It is our undertanding that the repair work was carried out by Steve Silburn. If you require additional photographs please contact us.
