Stores reference 27P/7.  Approximately 11 x 8.5 x 2.8cm.  Gilt coloured metal box similar to an old tobacco tin.  Printed with A 'Crown' M on the lid and with a list on contents on the base.  Dated 8/43.  Contained Barley sugar sweets, chewing gum, malted milk tablets and energy tablets. The tin has surface wear and marking but all the text remains quite clear and legible.  The underside of the lid is printed with instructions for use.  Unusually this example retains approximately 50% of the contents including the a couple of packs of Horlicks (malted milk) tablets and the energy tablets (5 small metal tubes each with 6 tablets) contained in a card box with instruction leaflet. These rations were officially issued as part of the dinghy survival kit but saw wider distribution in practice. Not for use or consumption.  Stock code S18287.
