RFC First Pattern Flying Goggles

Official issue in 1914 these goggles have a basic one-piece rubber frame fitted with oval shaped laminated clear glass lenses.  Simple elasticated strap with hook and eye fastener.  These goggles feature frequently in period photographs, particularly RFC Other Ranks who used issue kit rather than the private purchase favoured by officers.  Use of these goggles was short as by 1915 the gogglemask had been introduced.  Condition is generally excellent.  The frame is completely flexible and the lenses undamaged.  The strap lacks elasticity but has a slide adjuster to aid fit.  These come with part of the original card box of issue.  A rare find in this condition.
