RAF Type E* Oxygen Mask, Tube & Wiring

SOLD

Code: O20471

Stores Ref. 6D/473.  This is the later pattern variant of the E-mask complete with anti-suffocation/inspiratory valve and having an elasticated webbing harness in place of the earlier leather types.  The rubber is in excellent condition with only very minor stress crazing around the microphone oroface.  The edges of the mask are complete, the overall shape is good and the rubber remains pliable.  Air Ministry reference numbers are evident in the facepiece moulding along with additional stamped markings.  The chamois inner edging is near complete and clean.  The conical tube at the base of the facepiece remains in place and is also in excellent condition, complete with alloy pipe/valve within.  The tube is slightly off-set from the facepiece through storage but this is not significant.

The webbing harness is complete but faded and lacks elasticity.  Two of the three press studs have lost the original finish.  Fitted with a type 48 microphone assembly (type 26 mic 10A/12570 and short loom/plug) and anti-freeze gauze plate - all in very good condition.  Also  comes with the correct thinner diameter corrugated rubber oxygen tube, secured with the original cadmium plated wire ring clip.  The tube has minor cracking/crazing within the folds but is in good '+' overall condition and complete with brass bayonet connector and cadmium plated 'crocodile' clothing clip. Please note that this mask is guaranteed to be 100% original and should not be confused with the 'hybrid' masks that have been offered elsewhere in recent years. Those  have original metalwork and harnesses but brand new/reproduction rubber facepieces and linings. Many masks found today are also fitted with later broader diameter tubes.  A very good '+' example of this type of mask.  Stock code O20471.
