RAF Clock, Mantle, Small.  More commonly referred to as the RAF Sergeants Mess mantle clock although these clocks almost certainly saw wider use throughout RAF stations.  Free standing oak cased clock with an 8-day Elliott single fusee movement dated 1937.  The varnished case measures approximately 23 x 36 x 14cm and is, in our opinion, of better proportions than the larger 'officer's mess' mantle clock.  The 14cm 'silvered' dial is in good '+' condition, engraved with King's crown RAF crest, Roman numerals and chapter ring - all in-filled in black. Cast brass bezel with convex glass opens via a small brass 'button' on the left of the case. The movement is accessed via a door at the rear of the case.  This can be locked and comes with the key.  The movement is signed by F.W Elliott Ltd, has the serial number '2674' and 1937 date.  It is clean, has been serviced, comes with the original pendulum (cracked but this does not affect the function whatsoever), pendulum lock/screw and is running well.  The case is in very good condition although possibly revarnished and there is a crack evident on the rear door (see photo no.13) .  A lovely clock worthy of any collection.  This item is both heavy and delicate.  Collection is preferred but we will pack with care and post worldwide if requried.
