Wartime RAF Type 'Captains' Chair

Original wartime period 'Captains' type chair.  Varnished beech (?) frame with horsehair filled seat pad upholstered in green Rexine.  This is similar to the type of chair seen in period photographs of R.A.F Station offices, outside dispersal huts and within the Cabinet War Rooms in London  - see pic 13. This example has no obvious manufacturer's marks, War Department stamps or date.  The frame is sound but has play/movement in some joints including the arm supports. It wouldn't be too difficult to re-glue these if required.  There is also a split in one arm support but this doesn't affect structural integrity (see photo 12). The original dark finish is worn, particularly on exposed sections.  The Rexine is in remarkably good condition and the chair is very comfortable.  

We've had this in use in our office for about 20 years but have recently purchased some Air Ministry marked examples and no longer have space for this.  It is perfectly useable as it is & we like the aged patina but it could be 'improved' if desired by reglueing some of the joints or even stripping and repolishing. Due to its size this is available for collection only.  Alternatively, if you wish to arrange a courier we will provide some basic  protection with bubble wrap.  We cannot box this item.  Get the look with a genuine period chair for a fraction of the cost of an Air Ministry marked example.  We have a few other photos available if required. Stock code NIV/CWR.
