By The Industrial Canvas Prod. Corp. The M4-A2 steel helmet was standardised in 1944 an replaced by the M5 in 1945. It was fitted with hinged earflaps, covered entirely in a heavy olive green cotton fabric, lined in olive drab nylon and had webbing goggle straps at the back. It had a simple leather strap and quick release buckle.
This example has some external fading and staining. The lining is also soiled and there is minor wear and fraying on exposed edges. Both earflaps are attached and in similar condition. The chinstrap is very poor being dry and with severe surface cracking and near separation in places. The quick release buckle is in good condition. Let down by the strap but nevertheless this helmet is in reasonable overall condition and displays well. Priced accordingly. Stock code H21103.
