Luxor 'Type' Flying Goggles

High quality nickel plated triangular shaped frames with central 'barrel' screw adjuster. White foam rubber cushions and pale blue tinted optical/prescription lenses. Fitted with the same strap as the official R.A.F. MK.II flying goggle with leather covered springs and chamois backed leather section.  All the springs are undamaged and the leather is in good condition. Although not 'Luxor' marked these are certainly of Luxor quality and share very strong similarities such as the barrel adjuster and the strap metalwork. The frames are lightly aged with some verdigris deposits and the lenses only have light edge delamination.  The rubber cushions are marked 'Fullfield' and are a little soiled but remain good and flexible. The goggles come in a faux leather covered rigid case with 1942 dated manufacturer/retailer's label within, 'Theodore Hamblin Ltd. 15 Wigmore Street, London, W1.'  Henry Thomas Hamblin trained as an optician and founded the business which became a prestigious company of dispensing opticians with three Royal warrants.  They supplied eyewear and optical instruments for the War Department. It later became Dollond and Aitchison. A lovely set of goggles typical of the private purchase style favoured by many RAF pilots during the interwar and early WW2 period. Stock code G19053.
