USAAF B-5 Flying Helmet

Size medium.  1/4" shearling leather with seal brown chromed leather outer shell.  This second pattern helmet has 'cheek notches' to facilitate the use of the A-9 & A-10 series oxygen mask. Metal hooks are also provided to secure a mask.  The leather is crumpled and a little dry with light surface wear.  It remains quite supple and is clean.  The mask hooks  and goggle strap studs have some verdigris deposits.  The lining is good and quite clean.  The chinstrap  & buckle are both good.  The helmet retains both tightening cords.  The original label is partly missing/torn.    A good used example of this rare variant.  Stock code H21311.
