RAF Irvin Flying Jacket

Thermally Insulated Flying Suit, Jacket.  Physically measures approximately 50” so should be suitable for around a 44-46” chest. This example is of four-panel front and rear construction.  The leather is in very good overall condition retaining much of the original chromed finish and flexibility.  There is some abrasion  - notably on the arms and shoulder areas but there are no tears or repairs (very small hole in the inner wind flap behind the zip - see photos). The jacket is creased but seems to be strong and the binding seams appear good and tight.  Unusually this jacket has some 'artwork' on the left breast in the form of a yellow painted circle with indistinct lettering/design within. Very good dense fur lining with most still remaining at the waist. There is  more wear at the cuffs but these are better than most jackets found. The jacket retains original 'Lightning' brand zips at the cuffs and the main zip has been replaced using a period original. All zips have original leather puller tags. The belt is complete and in good condition. This example has a chain hanger, collar strap (a little worn) / rings and eyelets to the rear of the collar for the elastic 'collar strap' (not present).  Overall, a good + / very good used example in a large size.   Stock code J21371.
