Official British press photograph taken on the British Western Front in France.  Approximately 15 x 20cm. Shows a group of Balloon Observers controlling a large 'kite balloon'.  Captioned to rear ' R.F.A. kite balloons are teh eyes of our guns in France.  The Observers are highly trained men and when their balloons are shelled or attacked by enemy aircraft they are forced to make rapid descents in parachutes.  These parachutes must be kept in perfect working order'.  Photo issued by Associated Illustration Agencies Ltd. and passed for transmission abroad.  Generally good bar light marking and creasing.  Stock code P15013.
