RAF C-type flying helmet, 1st late pattern

SOLD

Code: H17633

Stores Ref. 22c/880. Size 4.  The leather is in good clean and supple condition. Indistinctly embossed Air Ministry and stores reference markings. All straps are very good and retain virtually all of the original coatings on the press studs. The lining is dotted with approximately a dozen small holes but has less than average soiling with most on the donuts and nape of the neck as usual.  The rubber receiver carriers remain quite flexible but have lost some shape. The chinstrap is quite clean, retains good strong colour and some elasticity. Fully wired with what appears to be a 'new old stock' mid tan coloured loom, matched receivers and black cased bell jackplug.  Please note that the microphone plug has not been secured/sewn in (see photo) but we can sew it in for the buyer if required. This is the rarer first pattern / early internally wired pattern C-type of definite wartime manufacture. Overall this is a good '+' used helmet in a big size. Stock code H17633.
