USAAF B-6 winter flying helmet, wired

SOLD

Code: H21256

Size medium. 1/4" shearling leather with seal brown chromed outer shell. Has hook attachments for the A-9 oxygen mask.  The leather is in reasonably good overall condition.  It is quite supple and retains most of the chromed finish but does have some surface cracking and minor peeling, mainly on the central panels (see photographs). Complete with leather earcups sewn in place to hold the receivers.  The chinstrap is good and retains the shearling chinpad.  Both drawstrings are in place around the face opening.  Fading AAF decal and AN inspection stamp externally with a nice clear embroidered label inside.  Fully wired with early R-14 receivers by the Consolidated Radio Corp and correct 'Y' loom with PL-54 jackplug.  The B-6 was officially replaced by the AN-H-16 in 1943. A good example. Stock code H21256.
