Luftwaffe flying jacket

Privately purchased flying jacket manufactured by Hohenstein in soft brown hide. Typical short waisted design with full length front zip fastener and angled zip pockets at the chest and midriff. Buttoned straps at the cuff and small of the back. Light tan sateen weave brushed cotton lining with one internal pocket. Fitted with silver bullion senior officer rank shoulder boards via 'field tailored' leather loops. Embroidered Luftwaffe breast eagle sewn to right breast.  The leather is in very good condition, supple and undamaged bar some wear on the collar fold. All original 'Zipp' and 'Ruhr' brand zips are in excellent condition though one breast pocket has a replacement puller tag.  The majority of the lining is in good order but there is wear and fraying along the lower edge/seam and around the neck seam where it has also come adrift. This could be repaired/restitched.  Woven manufacturer/retailer label - 'Hohenstein Leder-Regen-u Sport Kleidung' (Leather rain/sport clothing). A lovely jacket, typical of the many privately purchased jackets so popular in the earlier stages of the war.  Superb display piece.  Stock code J19739.
