RAF Irvin flying jacket

Thermally Insulated Flying Suit, Jacket.  Physically measures approximately 44” so should be suitable for around a 40” chest. This example is of four-panel front and rear construction.  The leather is a little dry but in very good overall condition retaining much of the original chromed finish and flexibility.  Aside from some loss of colour and abrasion on the arms/shoulders ( see photographs 6 & 9) and general creasing there are no real issues. The jacket seems to be strong and the binding seams appear good and tight.  The finish is a bit 'dull' but could be improved with some leather dressing. Very good dense fur lining with much still remaining at the waist and cuffs.  Light moulting at the collar edge but this isn't a real issue.  The jacket retains original Air MInistry marked 'D-o-T' zips throughout, all complete with leather puller tabs.  All function correctly but would benefit from lubrication. The belt is complete and in good condition. This example has a leather hanger and collar strap / rings, the latter with some surface corrosion. The collar is also fitted with collar strap eyelets, one of which has verdigris deposits.  These could be cleaned off using a fibreglass pencil.  Overall, a good + / very good used.   Stock code J22037.
