British Official Photograph.  Approximately 20 x 15cm.  Titled 'Italy : RAF battle against mud and rain'.  Great image of aircrew manhandling a Spitfire in the mud.  Captioned to rear 'rain sand mud are playing their part in slowing down the advance of the Allied armies in Italy and now the RAF are finding things none too pleasant on some of their advanced landing grounds.  Many hands make light work of a job of moving a Spitfire on a waterlogged landing ground in Italy.'  Dated 10/12/43.  Some pin holes and creasing with 'scratch' marks across the surface.  Stock code P22873-52.
