USAAF 'Tropical' Bancroft visor cap

Bancroft 'Flighter'. Smallish size measuring approximately 54cm (6^5/8). Pale tan cotton lightweight cap with a single thickness mid brown peak - the sign of a genuine crusher (folding) cap. Yellow satin lining with greasecloth crown. The cap does have minor moth damage with some tiny nips and one small hole on the side panel near one of the vent holes (see photographs). Light wear and crease marks on the peak but this remains completely flexible and the underside is very clean. Excellent one-piece badge with screw post fixing. The greasepaper liner is discoloured / wrinkled as usual but the Bancroft logo is visible beneath. Perforated inner leather band is very good and clean with clear 'Curve Controlled Flighter' logo. Named to the owner. Good '+'/ very good used overall. Bancroft caps are considered by most collectors to be the finest available and the 'Flighter' is always highly sought after. Stock code U21144.
