RAF C-type flying helmet, early pattern

SOLD

Code: H18318

Stores reference 22c/451.  Size 3.  The leather is in excellent overall condition but there is some loss of stitching on the centre seam (see photographs).  Fitted with 2 goggle straps in good condition although the press studs have lost most of their original coating.  Very good Bennett buckle and chinstrap complete with metal end tip.  The rubber receiver carriers are both excellent but appear to be replacements.  The helmet has clearly had earflaps stitched to each side at some point.  Tell-tale stitch holes can be seen along with a small hole where a press stud/popper has been removed.  Average even soiling to the lining but no damage.  A small stitched label indicates the size.  Beautifully embossed clear Air Ministry King's crown marks and reference codes on the chin tab.  Sold unwired.  Good '+' to very good used overall.  Stock code H18318.
