RAF Irvin flying jacket

SOLD

Code: J22631

'Thermally Insulated Flying Suit, Jacket'.  Physically measures approximately 44” so should be OK for around a 40” chest.  This example is of  typical late war multiple panel construction.  The leather is in quite good overall condition retaining much of the original chromed finish and good flexibility.  There is some wear/abrasion and loss of chroming to the finish, notably the chest middle front and arm panels (see photographs).  There is also a tear near the left elbow area  (see photograph 10) but this panel could be repaired, patched or even replaced.  Both sleeve zips are original and in working condition but their sliders lack the metal puller tag.  The main D-o-T zip is an original period replacement in good working condition.   Very good medium length shaggy brown fur lining with a shorter pile fur on the collar.  The fur remains quite good at the waist but is rather worn  on both cuffs.   The majority of the seams appear to be good and tight though one at the back of the collar has split.  Fitted wiith the original (worn) belt, leather hanger (broken) and collar strap/rings.   Label absent.  A good later war example.  Further photographs available on request.  Stock code J22631.

Approximate measurements : pit to pit 22", pit to cuff 20", Collar seam to waist 23.25".  All taken with jacket laid flat and zipped.
