By Ilford Ltd. Timer/stopclock probably used for timing during photographic developing. This one has a small label 'R.A.E 5 Farnboro' (Royal Aircraft Establishment). Cream painted metal case approximately 28cm diameter. Has an 18cm paper dial behind a perspex sheet marked with 1-12minutes in the centre and 0-60 seconds around the chapter ring. Black painted metal hands. Simple 230v electric movement with two-pin plug and wiring (no plug). Untested. The case has soiling and some chips/flaking paint. The dial is yellowed and the varnish crackled but fairly good. The Royal Aircraft Establishment (RAE) was a British research facility set up in 1918 and finally merging with the other section of the MOD in 1988. Unknown vintage but would guess 1950s/60s. Unusual. Stock code C23350.
