RAF parachute survival kit

Stores reference 15A1471.  Cotton case approximately 30 x 30 x 5cm with a heavy duty 'Lightning' zip fastener around all sides.  When open this reveals a substantial length of neately packed heavy guage parachute cord to which is attached some form of belay device with a white metal hand operated lever and chrome plated snap hook.  It is believed that when an unfortunate airman or parachutist landed in trees or some other obstacle this kit could be used to lower himself safely to ground level.  The case is manufactured by the Mills Equipment Co, War department stamped and 1943 dated.  A flap at the upper edge of the case has buttons/button holes for attaching to an airframe or clothing.  Excellent condition.  Rare.  Stock code S11359.
