RAF Mk.II flying goggles

SOLD

Code: G22087

Goggles, Flying Lightweight. Stores reference 22c/44. More commonly known as the MK.II. Technically an interwar pattern but still in use well into the early years of WW2. Grey painted metal frames backed with fur trimmed knitted brown silk. Laminated clear glass lenses. Distinctive strap having two sprung sections joined via a chamois backed leather piece. The frame is good and the lenses largely free of delamination marks but have some light  (glue?) residue.  The knitted silk backing is a little soiled but the edge trim is complete. The strap springs are undamaged but the cloth coverings are worn  and the leather strap sections have surface wear/damage.  Both adjuster slides have surface corrosion and there is damage to the leather where the strap attaches to the goggle. Not the best pair as the strap looks a bit tatty but the Mk.II is a rare find now. Not to be confused with the many variants of MT driver goggles on the market.  Stock code G22087.
