RAF 'used' Luxor 12 flying goggles, cased

Nickel plated vented frames with adjustable nose bridge.  Flat laminated glass lenses, pink/orange rubber cushions with raised 'Luxor' marks and simple elasticated strap.  These were the finest quality goggles of the day and the preferred choice of many pilots at the beginning of WW2 and into the Battle of Britain.  The '12' model was made famous by the iconic photograph of Pilot Officer Keith Gillman, used on the front cover of 'Picture Post' at the height of the Battle in August 1940.  The frames are in good to very good condition with only minor marks and oxidisation.  There are 'Luxor 12' markings on both sides.  The yellow tinted glass 'xxx' (Triplex) marked lenses display well but the left has a chip at the edge and some delamination.  The rubber cushions appear to be near complete but are somewhat mishaped and have stiffened up. They are not rock hard but lack flexibility.  The original strap is stretched and has lost elasticity.  Complete with their excellent original hard leather case with gold embossed markings.  Whilst these are a little 'tired', Luxor goggles are not common to find and the '12' is one of the rarest and most sought after.   Stock code G23375.
