USAAF A-6 winter flying trousers

SOLD

Code: J24155

By the Aero Leather Clothing Co.  Size 38R.  The A-6 trousers and matching B-7 parka were developed in 1940 and standardized in June 1941 as an extreme coldweather suit intended to protect air and groundcrews stationed in bitterly cold conditions.  Like the jacket these were manufactured in untreated natural 5/8" shearling and had knitted anklets and chromed leather patch pockets on the front of each leg.  They were also fitted with a short zip at the ankle and fly plus integral braces.  The shearling is in excellent condition.  It is relatively clean and appears to be strong and flexible without damage or repair. The lining is equally good and the trousers retain the original pockets, braces, hanger and label.  Original 'Talon' zip fasteners throughout, all in good working order if a little stiff through lack of use.  The B-7/A-6 suit was only in production for about a year and is now one of the hardest USAAF items to find.  Most that do turn up are in poor condition and are often very dirty.  This is an excellent pair of rare trousers and the first we have had for many years.   Stock code J24155.
