USAAF 8th AAF photograph and pass

Black and white photograph, approximately 10 x 15cm of Staff Sergeant Robert E. Drake (12121935), 8th AAF. He is in service dress with shirt, tie and garrison cap and his 8th AAF shoulder patch is clearly visible.  The image is printed on Air Mnistry paper and he has written a note on the reverse dated October 1944, 'Princess, This enlargement is perhaps a bit too much on the realistic side.  You would hardly think I was clean shaven which I was.  But it is a good like-ness, don't you think?  Charlie took it.  Your Bum.  PS Wish you could have fixed my tie'.  It comes with Drake's Enlisted Man's Temporary Pass from the 'AAF Station to American Red Cross to visit the Service Club in Sudbury'.  Part of an exciting and extensive collection of USAAF 8th and 9th AAF photographs, albums, documents and books.  Stock code P24192.
