RAF 1941 pattern Mae West kapok pads - early type

SOLD

Code: MW21334

Stores reference 22c/93.  Full set of three buoyancy pads for the 1941 Mae West. These are the rarer early pattern pads linked together with webbing tapes and constructed using internally rubberised cotton calico stuffed with hand teased java kapok.  Essentially the same as the 1932 pattern kapok set but shaped for the 1941 pattern Mae West.  Both side pads have Air Ministry and King's crown markings, the neck pad has a faded A.I.D. stamp.  Each pad has a later inspection stamp '20 MRT 1952'.  The pads are creased and soiled and two have a few small holes - see photographs.  Please note that these are not the same as the 'standard' 1941 pattern Mae west pads and virtually all of the sets we have had originated from the extremely rare 'flap-type' Mae West.  Extremely hard to find.  Stock code MW21334.
