RCAF B-type flying helmet

SOLD

Code: H21627

Canadian manufactured B-type. No size markings but appears to be large. These differ from the standard RAF version having a different 'cut' and strap arrangement. Very soft light tan leather with a chamois lining. Zipped ear covers and rear 'split' similar to those on the RAF B-type.  Chrome plated friction buckles replace the usual Bennet buckles found on the British version.  Canadian manufactured Prentice 'Tuway' zips. Overall condition is quite good. The leather remains supple and undamaged with only light scuffing and wear.  It is a little dry and would no doubt benefit from a light application of leather dressing.  All straps are present  and in good order but the metalwork has some surface corrosion.  Unfortunately one of the zip sliders is absent but it shouldn't be too difficut to source a suitable replacement.  Both earpieces are fitted with  original RCAF sponge rubber cushions in reasonable condition. The lining is generally quite clean and named in the crown to the owner 'Robbins'.  The same name is marked on the reverse side of the chin strap.  Approximately a quarter of the price of a comparable British B-type. Stock code H21627.
