RAF Mk.IVB flying goggles & spares, boxed

SOLD

Code: G18099

Stores Reference 22c/167.  The frame is in very good original condition, undamaged with only light paint loss.  The nosepiece leather is good and the chamois backing has average soiling and wear.  Surprisingly, the original rubber face pads are not perished or hard, they retain good overall shape and flexibility.  Fitted with excellent original clear glass lenses (no longer truly laminated).  The strap components are also good - the spring sections complete and undamaged.  Both 'loops' are a little soiled and one has some fraying.  The leather section is clearly marked with Air Ministry Crown and reference numbers but lacks the leather end roll.  No anti-glare shield fitted. Complete with the original box of issue which lacks a lid and has some damage (see photographs). This contains the card spares box with original spare clear glass lenses (no longer laminated), a leather/chamois forehead protection strip, full set of helmet plates including the two guide 'poppers'.  The guide plates could be attached to B or C-type helmets using copper rivets, a full set of 12 is also included.  A very good pair of goggles and accessories.  Stock code G18099.
