RAF MK.3C flying helmet - ex AAC pilot

Code: H24569

Stores reference 22c/1303171.  Size small.  The Mk.3C superceded the Mk.3A/3B  type helmets and covered in one basic design, a helmet for aircrews concerned with low and high altitude (rotary and fixed wing) with or without ejector seats.  The shell was manufactured from moulded glass fibre woven cloth impregnated with polyester resin and lined with a shock absorbing layer of cork and an internal webbing cradle.  The soft padded liner is finished in green leather with a beige edge.  The helmet retains the original finish in olive drab green and a reflective tape cross.  Whilst there is some paint chipping/scratching/surface crazing the shell appears to be undamaged.  Internally the helmet is also good, even the the foam rubber backing on the lining parts is intact.  Retains excellent gel filled ear capsules.  Fitted with a standard short pigtail loom and NATO plug (avionics tested and appear to work but not being sold as useable).  The dual side mounted visor system is comprised of two injection moulded polycarbonate visors.  The inner, clear vision offers protection against blast and bird strike debris and has an adjustable lock.  The independantly positioned outer is tinted for glare protection.  Both are in excellent condition and protected with a fixed velveteen cover.  This example was used by a helicopter pilot Captain in the Army Air Corps so is fitted with a boom microphone in addition to oxygen mask hooks.  With modification record card and carrying bag (22c/1302469.  Purchased directly from the orignal owner along with other flying kit currently listed on the website.  A very good example of this popular bonedome.   Stock code 24569.
