RAF / SOE escape and evasion pencil clip compass

Escape Aid No. 5, Swinger No.8.  One of MI9 / Christopher Clayton Hutton's ingenious escape compass designs utilising a simple metal pencil clip that would be very difficult for the enemy to identify as an escape tool.  These clips were magnetised and had a tiny indentation punched into the back of the 'arm' at the centre of balance, allowing it to be placed on the tip of a pencil or pin.  The clip would then point North.  Extremely difficult to find and in good working condition.  Comes with the period 'Utility' pencil shown.  Stock code E24710.
