Italian 'Protector' flying goggles, cased

SOLD

Code: G24641

Italian La Cicogna (The Stork) ‘Protector' flying goggles by Ratti of Torino.  Chromed steel frames with an adjustable bridge, vented black rubber face cushions, flat glass lenses, and an adjustable leather strap.  The frames are in excellent condition with clear markings. Both the lenses and strap are equally good.  The cushions are a little squashed and have hardened but their overall shape is very good and they display well.  Giuseppe Ratti, a photographer and owner of an optics shop in Turin,  began to develop goggles in 1917.  This model is of extremely high quality manufacture with superior fittings and finish.  You will note the similarity to the Luxor 12 so popular with Battle of Britain pilots.  These 'Protectors' come in their original polished aluminium case.  Lovely rare goggles.  Stock code G24641.
