USAF HGU-55/P fixed wing bonedome by the Gentex Corporation. Size large. Designed to suit a full range of High-G mission requirements, this lightweight helmet is constructed of a Graphite/Aramid shell which reduces weight while maintaining strength. It has a full padded leather edge roll and custom fit liner. An impact-resistant tinted polycarbonate visor is attached via adjustable elasticated straps and ring studs on the helmet and protected with a padded cover. Visor bump stops are glued to the helmet shell to provide for stowing of the visor. With ear cushions, full avionics for use with boom and/or oxygen mask microphone, and an adjustable webbing chinstrap. This example is fitted with a boom microphone, M-87/AIC by Electro Voice Inc. The helmet comes with a Gentex Corp MBU-12/P oxygen mask for use with pressure demand systems. Size 'Extra Long'. C.1994/5, it is manufactured in rigid grey polysulfone plastic with a bonded soft silicone rubber faceseal. It has an adjustable webbing harness and offset 'J' bayonet fixings. The M-101 dynamic microphone is wired via a coiled avionics cord ending in a single pin U-174/U plug, and 3 pin quick disconnect fitting. The helmet also comes with a felt cloth liner (size large). Overall condition is excellent. The shell is in very good condition bar minor knocks and scratches. The lining is good and the visor excellent. Avionics are untested but appear very good. The mask is in very good to excellent condition throughout. For high-performance manouevres up to +9 G and to help prevent G-induced loss of consciousness, the HGU-55/P (in 'Combat Edge form) is the standard for all U.S. Air Force F-15 and F-16 aircrew.
