RAF type H oxygen mask, WW2 dated

SOLD

Code: O18724

Size medium.  Dated 1-45.  Extremely rare wartime dated example of this otherwise relatively common mask.  The rubber facepiece retains good overall shape although the edge is curling inwards a little.  The rubber is grubby but remains very pliable. The only obvious cracking is around the expiratory valve shroud and lower mask edges when flexed.  The pearl grey suede lining is complete and reasonably clean.  Fitted with a type 57 microphone assembly and a mid tan coloured loom with the correct large 2-pin socket, type 614, 10H/18196.  Note that part of the edge of the microphone is missing.  The webbing harness is a bit dirty/worn and lacks elasticity but is complete.  These late war H-masks are very difficult to obtain in any condition and are considerably rarer than the G-type mask.   Examples that do turn up they are invariably 3-45 dated, 2-45 if you are lucky.  To get a 1-45 dated mask is particularly unusual.  A good used example that could be improved with careful cleaning.  Stock code O18724.
