RAF Irvin flying jacket

SOLD

Code: J25453

'Thermally Insulated Flying Suit, Jacket'.  Manufactured by Links, contract 10244.  Stores reference 22c/320.  Size 4 (Ht. 5'8"-5'9", Br. 36/38", Wt. 32/34"). Physically measures approximately 44” (maximum) so should be OK for around a 38/40” chest.  This example is of typical mid war construction with a four panel front,  four main rear panels, and 2 very small lower panels.  The leather is in very good overall condition, appears strong and has much of the original chromed finish with good flexibility.  There are no rips, tears or repairs but there is some wear and abrasion, notably on the upper arms as seen in the photographs.  All zips are original and complete with leather puller tabs.  The main zip manufactured by 'Lightning', is  in good working order.  One sleeve zip is by 'F.S.', Air Ministry marked and in good order.  The other is also Air Ministry marked but the teeth are not correctly meshed and this one would need attention or replacement in order to operate.  The lining is generally excellent and remains very good at the cuffs and waist but there is some wear at the edges of the collar.  All seams appear to be good and tight.  The belt is good but has some surface wear/cracking.  With original chain hanger and War Department marked label.  A very good '+' mid war example that displays very well.  Stock code J25453.
