Unlabelled but we believe this to be a late model United States Air Force HGU-2A/P bonedome. Size unknown. Comprised of a lightweight helmet shell produced in resin reinforced glass fibre with a polystyrene / styrofoam liner, removeable foam rubber sizing pads and black rubber edge roll. There is a lace adjustable strap at the back of the helmet and an adjustable padded chin strap. Fitted with a single tinted polycarbonate visor, adjustable via a central knob and protected behind an externally fitted plastic shield with raised reinforcement ridges to either side of the visor slot. This and the lack of ventilation holes in the styrofoam liner being a feature of later variants of the helmet. With ear cushions and avionics for use with an oxygen mask microphone. This example has fittings for a mask with quick release bayonet fittings. The helmet comes with a Scott MBU-5/P oxygen mask for use with pressure demand systems. Size 'Short/Narrow', c.1991, it is manufactured in rigid grey-green plastic with a soft silicone rubber faceseal. It has an adjustable nylon webbing harness and 'T' bayonet fixings for attaching to a helmet. The M-101/AIC dynamic microphone is wired via a coiled avionics cord ending in a single pin U-9177/2-1 plug, and 3 pin quick disconnect fitting. Overall condition is excellent. The helmet shell, finished in matt (or near matt) black, is in very good condition bar minor knocks and scratches. The lining is good and the visor very good but the visor shield has a small crack at the back as shown. The visor adjustment knob tends to come loose/detached but this should be quite straightforward to rectify. No receivers are fitted but the remaining avionics appear very good. The mask is in very good to excellent condition throughout. A superb display piece. Stock code H24972/3.
