RAAF Mess cheese dish

White ceramic glazed cheese dish and cover in a traditional 'wedge' shaped design. Manufactured by North Staffordshire Pottery Co. Ltd., Cobridge. The rectangular base has a raised border edged with a hand painted burgundy line. The sloping topped cover has a handle and small ventilation hole. The top surface is decorated with a burgundy line matching that on the base and also has a transfer printed burgundy coloured RAAF crest. The manufacturer's details are printed on the base. The glaze is crackled (can't be felt as under the surface) and discoloured in places but aside from a tiny chip on the base of the cover, there are no serious cracks or chips. Similar to one held in the Australian War Memorial collection. Stock code M25465.
