Italian Protector flying goggles

SOLD

Code: G26351

Italian La Cicogna (The Stork) ‘Protector' flying goggles by Ratti of Torino.  Chromed steel frames with an adjustable bridge, vented grey rubber face cushions, curved lenses and an adjustable elastic strap.  The frames are in excellent condition with clear markings.  The lenses are equally good and the cushions retain excellent shape and flexibility.  The strap is good and retains some elasticity but has some wear/minor fraying.  Giuseppe Ratti, a photographer and owner of an optics shop in Turin,  began to develop goggles in 1917.  This model is of quality manufacture with a good finish.  You will note the similarity to the Luxor goggles so popular with Battle of Britain pilots.  These 'Protectors' come in their original aluminium case.  Lovely rare goggles.  Stock code G26351.
