Imperial Japanese Navy float vest - reproduction

SOLD

Code: MW26140

A high quality reproduction of a mid/late war (1943-45) IJN float vest produced in chocolate brown cotton by Nakata of Tokyo.  This has a total of 22 kapok filled tube shaped chambers, seven each side of the front and eight on the back.  It fastens at the front with two sets of tying tapes and a  heavier weight cotton twill webbing strap.  A 'tail' piece of cotton attached to the bottom of the rear of the vest could be passed through the legs.  Cotton twill webbing straps at the end of this can be fastened through webbing loops at the front of the vest.  A printed label with Japanese kanji is stitched inside the front right side and printed marks can be seen on the inside left.  There is some soiling and fading but overall condition is very good and the vest displays very well.  Originals are virtually unobtainable so this is a good opportunity to fill a gap.  Stock code MW26140.
