Stores reference 22C/1253085.  Size 4  Narrow.  1970 dated.  By Helmets Ltd. of Wheathampstead.  Bonedome worn in conjuction with the type F or G inner helmet that contained the avionics and to which an oxygen mask could be fitted.  The MK.1A is a basic protective helmet in leather lined fibreglass.  It has a simple nylon webbing suspension system fitted inside to give a comfortable fit over the inner cloth helmet (can be supplied separately).  An anti-glare visor is fitted, comprising a centre rail attachment and mechanism with a replaceable tinted acrylic anti-glare screen.  The helmet shell is in excellent overall condition with original silver paint finish.  There are light scratches/chips but it appears to be free of cracks and stress crazing.  The rubber edge roll is complete and aside from some cracking in quite good order.  Fitted with a very good visor track and tinted visor.  The visor mechanism works but is a little wobbly in use.  The lining is really quite clean.  Good chinstrap.  The helmet has a reflective tape cross applied and is marked to the rear BBMF sp4.  Similar markings have been written inside suggesting the helmet was originally worn by an aircrew member of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.  It comes with the original protective cloth visor cover and carry bag, stores reference 22c/1302469.  Very good '+' overall condition.  Stock code H25398.
