RAF fire extinguisher, c.1941

Type S.A.2.  Rare red painted metal cylindrical fire extinguisher with handle to side and brass nozzle on the opposite top edge.  The cylinder is approximately 58cm tall x 18cm in diameter (25cm including the handle and nozzle).  Gold painted panel/label with King's crown R.A.F. cypher and the wording ' EXTINCTEURS TYPE S.A.2.  IN CASE OF FIRE REMOVE EXTINCTEUR FROM STAND AND STRIKE THE KNOB EITHER BY HAND OR AGAINST A WALL OR PILLAR.  Tested to 350LBS per square inch,.  Manufactured in the Year  1941'.  There is loss to the left side of the label, some paint loss and surface wear but overall condition is good.  Empty.  As used on and around wartime airfields/buildings. Although worn, it has a pleasing appearance and makes an excellent display piece.  It might be further improved with careful cleaning and waxing.  A similar example used to be dipslayed at the RAF musuem, Hendon.  Only the second RAF marked example we have ever had, the first being in our own collection.  Heavy.  Inland sales only.  Stock code M25466.
