USAF type D1-A cap

Cap, Air Crew, Heavy, Type D-1A.  Size Extra Large.  Manufactured by Blue Anchor Overall Co Inc.  Dark blue wool mix material with a wool felt lining and leather sweatband at the forehead.  Fitted with an adjustable chin strap.  The lower side/rear section can be worn up or down as shown.  With manufacturer's label and 'Army Air Forces' stamp to the rear.  These early 'WW2'/pre '47 marks are curious given that the cap dates to the early 1950s/Korean war period.  It is generally in very good condition, clean and retains strong colour but does have a little moth on the underside of the peak a shown.  Stock code S25020.
