RAF 158 Squadron Navigator's raid chart - Koln

RAF Form 441.  Approximately 28 x 43.5cm (opened out) x 2.  Document relating to a Bomber Command raid to Koln, Germany, by a Halifax crew of 158 Squadron on 31st October 1944.  It names the aircraft captain Squadron Leader Thomas Lindsey Parry (DFC/bar, 106234), Navigator, Pilot Officer Eric Geoffrey Huband (DFC, 184967), gives the weather forecast and details the flight from take off at 1813hrs to the bomb being fused at 1942 hrs, sighting of the target at 2101hrs, bombs being dropped at 2112hrs returning to base at 2318hrs.  Numerous entries and checks are recorded throughout and the sheets were annotated post raid in red crayon 'Check ETA', 'How about some DR?', 'What fix? you're asking for it here', 'Out of nine ETA's up to the target you only checked two - No wonder you were late!  So Check ETA at least once on each leg and more often on long legs.  Average.'.  Comes with the section of plotting map used on the raid.  The route to and from the target has been marked in pencil with times recorded at various points.  Scarce original documents that were actually completed on the bombing raid.  Stock code P23586.
