Notes for the iconic Lancaster Aircraft, AVRO Type '683' Mk.I & III. Published by A.V.Roe & Co. Ltd., Manchester, October 1943. Card covers, 14.5 x 22.5cm. Approximately 35pp plus around 13 pullout diagrams/charts at the back. The book covers fuel and oil systems; aeroplane controls; engine controls; handling; operating data; emergency procedures etc. The diagrams include the instrument panel, hydraulics, fuel system, turret hydraulics etc. Each copy was marked as 'Confidential', covered by the official secrets act and had an individual reference number, 4481 in this case. The cover is sound but creased, dog-eared at the edges and slightly detached from the pages. Internal pages are generally good. Some folded corners and tears on the pullout charts but nothing too serious and these would be easy to repair with archival tape. Named to Sgt F. Gee, RAF Bramcote. Excellent research material.
