USAAF stopwatch, type A-8

USAAF Watch, Navigation, Type A-8.  By Waltham.  Chromed base metal case, approximately 5cm diameter.  Black dial with white numerals, sweep hand and subsidiary dial.  Nine jewel continuous running movement with each revolution equivalent to just ten seconds of time.  The A-8 was developed for timing ground-speed meters in order for aircrew to determine the velocity of an aircraft relative to the ground and was widely used by Navigators.  Full markings are engraved on the back of the case but are quite faint, otherwise in excellent full working order.  Stock code C27047.
